Costa Rica is a great destination for all kind of surfers. Those looking for classic beach breaks with clean and easy waves as the advanced ones looking for world class point breaks will find here their surf paradise. The area is rich of waves, some spots are right in the touristic areas and other are very remote, uncrowded and reachable only by boat. In summer the most consistent swells come from the south. In winter, the dry season, swells come from the north pacific, usually with smaller waves and off-shore winds,. Anyway you will surf all year long without any wetsuit, just in shorts!
The best period to surf in Costa Rica is from May to September if you are looking for head high waves, from December to April for bigger and heavier conditions.
