YOGA IN LANZAROTE

Canary Islands, Lanzarote

Yoga lessons are the result of the knowledge learned in India, especially during the Ashram retreat.

It is of primary importance to inquire about the level of students in order to create a lesson that gives them a profound benefit by ensuring that some of them suffer from spine, cervical or knee pain.

The lessons range from 1h to half and 2h, can be individual or group with up to 20 people, to be able to follow the correct posture and assist each student by correcting any inaccuracies.

In general, the lesson consists of:

  • A technique of relaxation through the song of some Indian and Tibetan mantras (syllables or short texts that induce the mind to free themselves from the constant stream of thoughts and bring the person to a state of deep concentration);
  • Some cycles of capalabhati ("skull cleaning" in Sanskrit), a breathing that purifies the respiratory, blood and the cells in general;
  • Greetings to the sun (Surya Namaskar) which, depending on the class level, follows the Hatha or Asthanga technique and may contain several variations created by the teacher;
  • Various postures (asanas) standing, sitting, twisting, forward and backward stretches and inverted position;
  • A few minutes of relaxation in Savasana (or "Sanskrit's" dead position), accompanied by a slow and gentle breathing, to calm the body, mind, and spirit.
