So uncrowded in the OFF season the entire southern Mentawai chain remains a destination that offers perfect wave conditions for Interemdi or beginners, from mid- to late November until early January, most boats are not operational, setting up surf sessions in perfect solitude!
The secret is to travel when others are less inclined to do so, because there are perfect waves all year round. During December we rarely see a charter boat, especially at Christmas and New Year, and if we have a few surfers booked, we are able to visit the surrounding breaks a bit more often, which are also empty!
The low season regularly offers the kind of conditions most surfers can only dream of: empty, head-high, glassy, perfect waves.
The southern Mentawais are open to long-duration southerly swells, which are frequent during these months. Low pressure systems pass into the Indian Ocean at a lower longitude, causing SW swells that hit Western Australia and refract northwards towards Bali, Java and the Southern Mentawai.

The Surf Coaching Clinic is designed with your progress and enjoyment in mind, offered in a relaxed atmosphere, to help you develop your physical and mental skills while having fun!
Clinics last 1 week per clinic over 8 weeks, but you can stay longer if you wish. During coaching sessions, there are usually 8 surfers per coach to ensure individual coaching (according to ISA standards), and our accommodations are limited to one surfer per room to maintain a maximum number of surfers, except in the case of surfing couples or dads and kids, where we can allow 2 surfers per room.
By having a room to yourself, you can enjoy more privacy and comfort, choosing between queen or twin beds, and you can bring your partner, a non-surfer partner or the whole family with you if you wish! If you need more space, our family suites are also available; ask for information. Services, facilities and activities are available to ensure that everyone has fun and enjoys the most exciting activities.
Surf Coaching Clinics 2024 are based on a 1-week stay, but a 2-week stay is also possible!
Guests must arrive in Padang on Thursday to depart at 6.30am on Friday morning with the Mentawai Fast; one night in Padang is also required at the end of the trip, as arrival in Padang is at 6.30pm the following Friday (8 days surfing / 7 nights in resort).

∧ Health Care and Documents:
Most nationalities do NOT need a special visa to go to Indonesia (30 days on arrival). We always reccommend to check the validity of your passport before travelling (at least 6 months validity from the scheduled return date) and to take various copies of your passport with you, if the original gets lost. There are not good hospital facilities in Mentawai, only small medical centers, we recommend traveling with an international travel insurance, in the emergency case of helicopter transfer to a bigger hospital.
