SURFING IN NIAS

The first surfers called this island "Paradise on Earth". It's really true if you think that several surfers say Sorake's wave is "the most famous right wave on the Globe"! Here, amazing long tubes and vertical long walls are the normality. Every surfer should be psychologically prepared for when his heart no longer wants to leave the island at the end of the trip. Together with its beautiful white sand beach, Lagundry Bay has always fascinated surfers with its spectacular waves (the reef has been greatly retreating after the Tsunami of 2004, but everyone says that this has even improved the wave - Kelly Slater confirms) . In good months the waves can reach 3-4 meters, and the Sorake Beach wave at Lagundry Bay has been placed among the ten best waves of the World. Spot that works all year, surely bigger and more consistent from April to October.

In the inside of the bay, smaller waves are reformed, with foams and walls perfect for beginners.

NIAS SPOTS

Nias point One of the best and most mechanical breaks on the planet. This wave was made for surfing: deep water, perfect tubes, works with all the tides and easy entry and exit from the water.

Indicator This wave is 250 meters paddling from the point and as the name says, this spot indicates the entry of the wave sets in the Bay of Lagundri. Here you can surf tubes of even 10 seconds with the right conditions.

River Mouth A 10 minute walk from Lagundri Bay. This spot is perfect for beginners and for surf school, thanks to the sand bottom.
