Wake up beside the beach on Pulau Sarang Gantung, a small tropical island in Indonesia’s Banyak Islands, off the west coast of Sumatra. Diamond Island Eco Resort is a relaxed base for surfers, couples, friends and families who want warm-water waves and time in nature. Bay of Plenty is approximately five minutes away by boat, with local surf trips included in the stay.
Choose a beachfront bungalow, a jungle room or beachfront glamping. The bungalows offer private bathrooms and air conditioning downstairs; jungle rooms and tents use shared bathrooms. Three meals a day bring guests together in the open-air restaurant and common area, with Indonesian and Western-style food. Starlink Wi-Fi is available, alongside space to relax between sessions.
Non-surfers can enjoy snorkelling, stand-up paddleboarding, jungle walks and beach time. The resort uses solar power with battery storage and generator backup, and works with a local island team. Access is by boat, with transfers arranged and quoted separately. More distant surf trips and tailored mainland Sumatra touring can also be organised at additional cost.
