Gran canaria is easily accessible from several cities such as with low-cost flights. In approx 4h flight you land in Las Palmas, the airport of Gran Canaria.

Gran Canaria despite being in the Atlantic Ocean is a Spanish island, therefore European. An Italian ID is sufficient. For health care, the European/Italian health card applies.
