The Canary Islands are also known as Europe’s Hawaii because of their strategic location in the Atlantic Ocean, they receive good swells all year round, larger in winter, September to April, and smaller in summer, May to August.
The north coast of Fuerteventura is called the North Shore, just like the north coast of Oahu, Hawaii, the name was not given as a joke, really in this stretch of coast there are numerous spots on quality reefs, some with “softer” waves, suitable for beginners and intermediates, and others with radical and tubing waves, suitable for experts, but also giant waves where it is possible to tow-in.
In addition to numerous reef breaks, Fuerteventura is home to several beach breaks that ensure good surfing throughout the year, even when reef spots are too small to surf.
The water temperature is mild in the winter (a 3.2 wetsuit is used at most), and in the summer you can surf in a bathing suit or a wetsuit.
