The Porto region in northern Portugal is still very unexplored from a surfing point of view, but its wave potential is not to be underestimated. In fact, thanks to the powerful North Atlantic swells that hit these coasts all year round, we find in this region a very high number of beach breaks and pier waves of great quality and with very high frequency! Waves for all levels, from the beginner to the most intrepid wave hunter, you can easily find yourself surfing a peak alone or with your friends. The Portuguese coast has the highest frequency of waves in all of Europe, even in summer the swells don’t wait. Quality waves guaranteed!

Spots Porto Area

Esmoriz Beach break endless, with various peaks, for all levels. Great spot for surf school, but also for advanced surfers when the swell is clean.

Espinho One of the most famous waves in the region, cooing right wave, breaking on a pier and rolling out into the bay. Suitable for advanced and experienced intermediates.

Maceda Very long white sand beach with several peaks, suitable for all levels. You can often find a peak all to yourself and your friends!

Matosinhos This is the surf beach in the city of Porto, close to our Hostel. Great for schooling, but also for more advanced levels, thanks to the fun left and right peaks scattered along the beach.

Cagalhotos High-quality right wave, with vertical and other more maneuverable sections, breaks on a pier and rolls out into a bay. Suitable for intermediate and advanced.
