Surfing in Santander represents the history of surfing in Spain, the first factories like Full&Cas and the first surfers were born here in the 60s/70s. In recent years this area is being characterized by big wave riding, several international surfers spend the winter here to train on the legendary Big waves like Vaca and Santa Marina, the former also nominated for the Billabong XXL
This stretch of coastline offers different options, there are more sheltered bays and more exposed ones, our staff will show you around the different beaches and its waves. In this area in the winter time mostly there are waves like La Vaca and Santa Marina suitable for big wave riders. One of our instructors is registered at Billabong XXL for La Vaca wave, if you are kamikaze inside these are the right waves for you !
The spots are diverse and of different types from beach breaks accessible to all to Tow-in points just for kamikazes!
Spots Santander Area
Somo Somo Beach has 2 km of fine sand from Puntal to Loredo, with peaks scattered throughout. We distinguish 3 main spots on this beach: La Curva, El Camping and El Barco. | ![]() |
