Surfing in Agadir

Surfing in Agadir

The coast of Agadir, Morocco, is a true surfing “Mecca,” where surfers from all over the world arrive every year to discover the beauty and quality of the waves, culture, and famous Moroccan cuisine.

From September to April, this area benefits from constant swells. The combination of these swells from the North Atlantic with offshore winds make Agadir a dream destination for surfers and surfers from around the world. The Agadir area receives the same swells as Atlantic Europe, but it is protected by the Azores anticyclone and the great Cape Ghir, which makes the weather conditions always pleasant throughout the year. In addition, the many spots make sure that even when conditions are prohibitive, there is always a sheltered spot that offers easy waves for all levels!

During the months of May through August, small, clean waves are found, good for beginners.

Spots Agadir Area

Anchor Point
The holy grail of surfing in Morocco. Very long right point with several sections and even tubes, with the right conditions. Suitable for intermediates and experts. Breaks on rocky bottom mixed with sand.
Banana Point
Near the village of Tamraght. Long, rather soft right point, good for carving. Spot suitable for intermediates and experts, but also for beginners, who can surf in the long foams on sandy bottom.
Devil‘s Rock
The Devil’s Rock! Quality right point, mixed sand and rock, with different sections ending in a beach break. Spot suitable for all levels. Near Tamraght village.
Boilers
Right reef very exposed and very consistent, works even with small swells. Great quality wave, long, steep and fast. Suitable for experts. Quite difficult entry and exit from the water.
Panorama Point
right at the south end of Taghazout village, with waves over 500 meters long on good days. It is a fast wave that can hardly be surfed for its full length, but still fun. Suitable for all levels because of the sandy bottom.
Dracula’s
Point right excellent, north of Taghazout. Very long walls with pipe sections and vertical sections for maneuvering. Spot suitable for experts. Difficult water entry and exit.
Tamri
Beach break extended, very exposed, works even when other spots are flat. Spikes scattered all along the beach, for all levels.
