The Mentawai Islands are located about 150 kilometers west of the coast of Sumatra Island, Indonesia. Aloita Resort is located north of Sipora Island, one of the 3 large islands that make up the Mentawai archipelago.
With an hour’s speedboat ride from Aloita Resort, you have the opportunity to surf 70 percent of the waves in the entire Mentawai archipelago and can also reach the famous Playground area. A few hundred meters from the Resort there are two interesting waves almost always exclusively available to our guests.
About 10 minutes by boat–the famous Telescopes spot and other famous waves of the Mentawai.
The boats that are used are:
- Michelle, one of the fastest motorboats in the Mentawai; capacity up to 10 people, complete with life-saving equipment; aluminum frame with 2 Yamaha x 200 hp engines
- Si Taksi, surf and diving boat. 7.5 meter aluminum structure; capacity 8 pax
- Si Kayu, wooden boat,with 3 x 40 hp Yamaha; ideal for transfer to fast ferry in Sipora
- Yes Naga Bonar, wooden, “pom-pom” boat; ideal as a small cargo boat
