The Mentawai Islands are located about 150 kilometers west of the coast of Sumatra Island, Indonesia. Aloita Resort is located north of Sipora Island, one of the 3 large islands that make up the Mentawai archipelago.

With an hour’s speedboat ride from Aloita Resort, you have the opportunity to surf 70 percent of the waves in the entire Mentawai archipelago and can also reach the famous Playground area. A few hundred meters from the Resort there are two interesting waves almost always exclusively available to our guests.

About 10 minutes by boat–the famous Telescopes spot and other famous waves of the Mentawai.

The boats that are used are:

• Michelle, one of the fastest motorboats in the Mentawai; capacity up to 10 people, complete with life-saving equipment; aluminum frame with 2 Yamaha x 200 hp engines
• Si Taksi, surf and diving boat. 7.5 meter aluminum structure; capacity 8 pax
• Si Kayu, wooden boat,with 3 x 40 hp Yamaha; ideal for transfer to fast ferry in Sipora
• Yes Naga Bonar, wooden, “pom-pom” boat; ideal as a small cargo boat

How to Get There:

To reach the Mentawai, we recommend flying to Jakarta, which is easily accessible from several Italian cities such as Milan and Rome.

In ca 16 h flight you land in Jakarta (CGK), the capital of Indonesia. From here, you need to reach Padang, there are several domestic flights from Jakarta to Padang, with Lion Air, Garuda, Citilink, Sriwijaya.

Once you arrive at the airport in Padang, we recommend that you stay overnight at a hotel in town (we can book you a hotel, at an extra cost).

The next morning a member of our staff will guide you to take a fast boat, which will take you to Sipora in 3 hours. At the port, our private boat will be waiting for you to take you to the resort.

IMPORTANT: Arrival and departure from the resort must coincide with the fast boat that leaves Padang every Monday-Wednesday-Friday at 7 a.m. and arrives at Mentawai 3 hours later.

Return from Mentawai is scheduled on the same days at 3 p.m. with arrival in Padang at 6 p.m.

Price fast ship 60 USD per person each way. Since the fast ship leaves at 7 a.m., customers normally need to arrive in Padang the day before.

For international flight, In High Season between 800- 1200€ a/r , in Low Season between 450-800€ a/r – prices per person. For domestic flights, on average between 40 and 100€ each way.

From the airport to the port of Padang or Hotel:

Extra night in hotel in Padang: We can book you a night in a hotel in Padang, at an extra cost (upon request), all airport/hotel/port transfers, will be included.

Cab: It is the fastest and easiest way to get around Padang. When you arrive at the airport in Padang, there will be numerous taxis waiting for you. Surfboards are not a problem for Indonesian cab drivers.

Health Care and Documents:

Italian citizens do not need a special visa to travel to Indonesia. You pay a 25 euro fee when entering the country and a 15 euro fee when leaving the country. It is recommended that you make several copies of your passport in case the original is lost. There are no good hospital facilities in Mentawai, only small medical centers, we recommend traveling with international travel insurance, in the remote case of transferring to the hospital by helicopter.
